There is a command line option to change the frontend; you can set it to text; not sure if that one ships by default on netinst; i'll have to check. Dialog does work over a serial port if the other end is a Linux terminal; but a bit slow to redraw screens. The lack of serial is definitely a problem; perhaps network console is another option but still the reliance on modules causes problems. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gregory Nowak" <greg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Speakup is a screen review system for Linux." <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 4:44 AM Subject: Re: Debian install with Software Speech? > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Also, I doubt the kernel console approach would work with a usb to 232 > converter, unless the debian netinst iso loads up the drivers for > those as part of the boot process.
