speakup newbie

Please could someone tell me how to unsubscribe from this list?

Some basic Ubuntu instructions follow.
Install the speech-dispatcher and speechd-up packages with apt-get.
Then load the speakup_sftsyn module.
with modprobe.

To get this module to load on boot add it to the modules that are loaded
at boot time with:
echo speakup_sftsyn >>/etc/modules

Yes.
Speakup is IMHO better in console mode.
I am not an ubuntu user so cannot really give you specific instructions.

If you use speech-dispatcher orca and speakup can co-exist peasfully
together.
