Actually, as far as speech synthesis software, both Orca and LSR are capable of using Festival via Gnome-speech, but you may be interested to know that the latest LSR, at least the one from CVS, supports using speech-dispatcher out of the box, whereas Orca needs some tweaking and an extra file added after installation in order to use speech-dispatcher directly. With speech-dispatcher it is possible to use eSpeak as your speech synthesizer with little tweaking, only some minor configuration changes in speechd.conf.
