No, you're way off base. Extras is not for updates. There are separate repos for updates. Extras are just that, extra rpms not part of Fedora base. You should have repos defined in /etc/yum.repos.d, unless your yum is very old. Your first action, in any case, should be: yum upgrade yum In particular, be sure to put: exclude=kernel kernel-smp kernel-doc in your /etc/yum.conf, or you'll be wondering what happened to your Speakup Modified kernel. he yum FAQ is at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/YumUpgradeFaq Jeremy R Schmidt writes: > Anyone know of a good yum repo to use? > I'm going to try: > ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/4/i386/ > > Is this all I need if I want to install updates? > I'm using fc4, and my kernel is a 2.6.13.x (the speakup modified one). > The url I mentioned above appears to just be for extras, so wil I need to > use a different site? > > If so, any recommendations? > > Thanks, > > Jeremy > > > _______________________________________________ > Speakup mailing list > Speakup at braille.uwo.ca > http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup -- Janina Sajka Phone: +1.240.715.1272 Partner, Capital Accessibility LLC http://www.CapitalAccessibility.Com Marketing the Owasys 22C talking screenless cell phone in the U.S. and Canada--Go to http://www.ScreenlessPhone.Com to learn more.
