Were you using jupiter with the DECtalk PC driver written back in the 
late 90s? I have found that, but haven't found a version for the 2.6 
kernel, so I am assuming that it is discontinued/dead. I think others 
used it for using the DEC pc with emacspeak.

The loader for speakup was adapted from that package, and I am wondering 
whether I would have any more luck with loading firmware if I was using 
that driver, assuming I had a 2.6 version.
