help with no sound?

You most likely need to unmute, and raise the volume of your sound
outputs with a program like alsamixer.

As for mounting your hd,

mount /media/hd1

should be what you want, assuming that /media/hd1 is defined as a
mount point for a valid partition designation in /etc/fstab. Hth.
