I know from personal experience because I was caught by it. By not allowing for repartitioning and formatting, I suddenly had disks that errored out and would not mount. So, although I contradict Janina, I strongly suggest in the least, reformat your disks, and better yet, go through the partitioning process to ensure that any changes are allowed to happen.
