When I had dsl installed and was using it with Linux, I first used Windows to do the installation. My experience has been that a windows install of dsl with a Linux switch guarrantees temporary operation of dsl with subsequent unexplainable mysterious dsl system failures. All of this usually takes about 3 months to happen. I have been without dsl service for over 2 months and noone on this end and especially verizon's end has any clue as to why.
