Sean, Take a look at a *.repo file found in /etc/yum.repos.d/ In this file you will see a line that starts with mirrorlist = This is where you put a list of ftp://, http://, or file:// entries. This is where yum is made aware of the locations of the many repositories. man yum will tell you lots of good stuff.
