yes, I too talk to my mac and tiger allows you to define speakable keyboard 
commands inside of applications.

the speech is way better than any synth out there. i've used macs since 92
and although the first couple of vertions of the old screen reader of mac
had a robotic voice. the plaintalk voices (witch are the voice for voice
over) are the best quality voices out there. and get this, i've ben talking
litterally to my mac since 96 asking it the time, asking it to do this or
that and with supurb voice quality feedback on top of that. /off topic post
