Quick Screen Question

I've begun using the screen terminal program and have tweaked my
.screenrc to start several screens with particular applications when
screen is invoked. Very nice.

However, I cannot figure out how to pass the various bash aliases I
define in my .bash to my screen sessions. I can't just put:

alias x=y

in my .screenrc. That gives me command unknown.

But, once in scren, I can define aliases by hand, and they do work.

Does anyone know how to pass them via the .screenrc? I have not found
documentation about this.
