Hello William: There is a character array /proc/speakup/character where you can change the pronunciation of each character/punctuation. As for the messages that is part of some internationalization plans I have to allow various languages of use although I haven't really got it very far along yet. Just too busy these days to spend time on speakup. Hopefully that will change soon.
