Okay I tried setting up a connection with slackware 10.1 which had worked previously for me. Now not even slackware 10.1 works. This was with an out of the box slackware install. For that reason I think the configuration has been trashed by verizon itself and will deal with that on this end shortly. Too bad dsl isn't viable without a windows machine to resurrect it constantly.
