help with slackware boot floppies

I am not sure if it will be of any help to you. But there exists a
boot manager called 'sbm' (smart boot manager). It's available as a
debian packages. This boot manager allows to choose the media to boot
from, including cdrom. I myself have no experience with it but perhaps
you will find it useful.
