I use exim.
what you might need to do is define a smarthost in sendmail's config 
file.
why you'r using sendmail is beyond me.
I won't start a flame war here, suffice it to say,
exim's config files are easy to read and understand and I have heard 
around the traps that sendmail isn't as secure as it possibly should be.
no matter, horses for courses.
in your sendmail.cf file look for a line  with 
ds on it's own.
put in  there, your isps mail server and restart sanemail after saving 
the config file.
errrr. make that sendmail lol.
