Just change/copy that to /etc/lilo.conf, editing if you feel that would be helpful, and run lilo. > also, can I just change my kernel in /boot using a kernel from kernel.org > or one of its mirrors or is there some reason why I need to use the rpms? Hey, this is Linux. You can do anything you want. Of course, you're also responsible for the consequences--so beware. You may wish to check the default config files Fedora provides under /usr/src/linux-{version}/configs. The reason to use rpm is to have a package manager handle dependencies, etc. But, as I said, this is Linux. You can change and fiddle all you want. > are there any extra steps I have to take in changing kernels with fedora > that would be different from what I did in debian--the standard kernel > make config, make clean, make, make modules_install, copying the > system.map and bzImage to /boot and running lilo or grub as the case may > be?
