There is a package called "wedit" on my website that is a kind of front end to a bunch of standard apps, and allows some fairly convenient editing in a text console. I am constantly tinkering with the thing, and if it does not do something you wish it would do, maybe it could be added, but no promises. Several others here are using it, or have used it in the past. Its main limitation right now is that you have to be able to get the entire source in wave format to fit in memory to do anything with it. It works best with small or modest clips.
