Hi Hart, The Dectalk has always had a problem with shutting up. Even the old externals had problems shutting up when ever you told it too. Curiously enough no other speech synthesizer has had this trouble. Is it something to do with the way the dectalk is buffering the text its receiving? Whatever it is it's interesting. The internet used to be a network of trust, until the wrong minds became pros. And while I am neither a linux expert nor a techy, I have some observations. First of all, even if I up or down arrow to new text, it will not shutup. If I hit controll during the first 1 second of speech, it will stop, but if I wait beyond that, I seem to need a large sledge hammer to stop speech. Since I like to cursor alot, this sluggish behavior is quite frustrating.
