Original vividata pricing

Hello Terry and everyone,

Thanks for posting your invoice information from Vividata, Terry, although it wasn't necessary. One question: was this for the full package? or the lite version?

I spoke with the manager at Vividata on the telephone. They are currently in the middle of a new release of their ocr software and hence very busy.

At this moment, they still have not determined the pricing for blind individuals. The price you paid was a year-and-a-half ago. They are now considering special distribution (avoiding java/javascript in the registration), improved documentation for blind users to download and install the software and several possibilities for licensing/pricing.

So, for now, until they get their website revised for ftp downlaod without the java, please get the two files from goodies: xtrclilite*, read the manual and follow the directions therein.

A word of caution: this trial package depends on the SANE backend to interface with your scanner and produce a tiff file of at least 300 dpi. If your scanner doesn't work (with SANE or other scanning software) to produce the tiff files, then xtrclilite isn't going to do anything for you. On the other hand, if you can scan into 300dpi tiff files, this package gives very accurate ascii output.

	HTH,

	--terry
