I have a router and I also have XP on the router, so I did the windows XP command in a Dos Shell: ipconfig and I took the IP address for the XP machine of: 192.168.0.106 and subtracted one to be: 192.168.0.105 and it worked for my FTP server as well as Debian in general. I don't know how I would have gottin the IP address without having the XP machine on the same router. That is, you will get an ip address but it will be something like 192.168... That won't help you get the actual external ip address which is what you will need. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sina Bahram" <sbahram@xxxxxxxxx> To: "'Glenn at home'" <GlennErvin at cableone.net>; "'Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.'" <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Thursday, December 23, 2004 12:00 AM Subject: RE: IP address ifconfig Take care, Sina -----Original Message----- From: speakup-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:speakup-bounces at braille.uwo.ca] On Behalf Of Glenn at home Sent: Wednesday, December 22, 2004 11:41 PM To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.
