IP address

ifconfig only works if you are not behind a router. That is, you will get an 
ip address but it will be something like 192.168... That won't help you get 
the actual external ip address which is what you will need.

What is the command I can use to find the IP address that my FTPD server can

be identified as on the www?
I typed man ftpd and did not find anything to help here.
