Shutting down Linux

Hi.
The shutdown -h now command is the common way of shutting down your
computer. The only other way of shutting down is through gnome.
Personally, I find using the shutdown command on the command line is the
easiest way of doing it.

Debian 3.0 R2. In the installation manual it states to shut down the system
you need to log in as root and type shutdown -h now. Is there any quicker
and easier way to shut down your computer?
