Not what I was told by the 64-bit Fedora gurus on the fedora-test list. So, I don't know who you're thinking of when you say "considered by some." Perhaps you might say? I'll stick to the advice I got -- which was simply "Don't trust the SATA interfaces that come on mother boards if you mean to do RAID." So, I'm getting either a 3Ware or LSI for that job.
