Well, I might tend to lean twards the eternal source thingy simply because many times, the precompiled package is flawed or leaves out some piece critical to my needs. Slackware's php package comes to mind. So I especially like the ability to compile from source. I know Debian and Redhat probably have more binary packages available to them than might Slackware so as a Slackware user, I probably run into the need to compile from source; I don't mind that at all really, as long as the compile is good. Now that checkinstall is available, one can create his/her own slackware packages more easily now. - -- HolmesGrown Solutions The best solutions for the best price! http://ld.net/?holmesgrown -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAhmkQWSjv55S0LfERAh94AJ9QL9ShcNQXi61cPDKSLu1bPQjmnwCfUITY bwSmKUytfDWR2tU+1YWwtiA= =RGhT -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
