I don't see how uncommenting your daemon.info line should have given you an error like that, unless there is something wrong with the line. If it helps, I have all my daemon messages logged to /var/log/daemon. Thus, my daemon.info line from /etc/syslog.conf looks like this. daemon.info /var/log/daemon Hth.
