Steve et all, Well not sure why or what, but time is limited and it works. I do have a symlink to linux-2.4.20 called linux. As far as the other poster who said I could rename them, that wouldn't have resolved this. In any case it works so perhaps there's more here, but well do to the fact I've got to get things packed I can't research it a great deal more, but perhaps once I get settled and assuming this box doesn't wind up in storage, I'll look this over. tnx Scott
