Hi, You don't need a duel kernel, but you may want to have two configurations in your grub.conf. One for speakup, and one that loads without speakup. I labeled them normal and speech so everyone knows which configuration is witch. If you are going to be running at run level 5 in 8.0 remove first boot as it causes all sorts of accessability nightmares for me. For some reason at least on my system if first boot is installed it won't allow me to switch to a text console. However, best solution is to go run level 3 and let them run the startx command to enter x, or put startx in there profile so it loads for them but not you.
