Ok, this is really tangential since we were discussing this in relation to the 2.6.0-test4 kernel. but I'm playing with a package I apt-getted (apt-got/) from debian called beep (probably also available from your distribution of choic). Aside from some practical usefullness, this could be fun!!! Cheryl
