Which synth for redhat 9?

Hi, Sina:

None of the software speech synths will help you use Speakup at this
time. For Speakup, you must have a hardware device. Unless you find one
somewhere on the used market, expect to pay approximately $300 U.S. plus
shipping and any special power supply you might need for an external
Doubletalk LT (or an internal Doubletalk if you happen to have an
available ISA slot). To get a Doubletalk go to:

	http://www.rcsys.com

If you install Red Hat 9 (Severn) as the Speakup Modified HOWTO
recommends, Festival will be installed for you and it will be
usable to the extent that Festival is ever usable. The HOWTO,
	recently revised, is at:

		http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/redhat/HOWTO_INSTALL.html

May I point out that you have two additional, no cost,
software speech options, namely flite (through the
eflite flite server) and freetts. Both
are available on Source Forge, respectively:

			http://eflite.sf.net
				http://freetts.sf.net
