You can check to see what directories are being searched by looking at your /etc/ldso.conf file. Check to see if there is a /sr/local/lib line in there. If not, edit the file and place the directory at the bottom of the file and save. Then you will need to run ldconfig to tell the loader to recompile the library paths.
