Hmm, well, since my method now works, I think I'll leave well alone,
though thanks for the heads up.  Presumably, because I'm passing the lilo
parameter, I  don't even need to compile scsi emulation as a module, I can
put it straight into the kernel?

It's no big deal, as I have my rc.modules and modules.conf set
appropriately, but I am interested for future kernel builds under
different distros.
