About starting the installation

I made 3 images of the RedHat & Speakup distro, 8.0 .
I set the first boot up device on my system as the CD-ROM, and the second as
the A-drive.
My computer did not notice the first disk image on start up. I thought it
would recognize the autorun file.
I also made a boot disk, from boot.img.
* Question:
Can I boot from the boot disk and will this allow me to access the
installation CD-ROM?
And, will I be able to call up Speakup from the boot disk with the command:
text speakup_synth=dectlk
Thanks for any help.
