Update on mplayer situation. I looked through the documentation and it says that there's a problem with using the oss drivers with the program so I passed alsa5 option to see what I'd get and I don't get any audio nad I get yet another error. mplayer -vo null -ao alsa5 /dev/scd0 And this is what I get from the program.
