Hi Igor, I used fDisk. I removed all partitions. I removed the extended DOS partition. I guess I can get into it in DOS, but that is after it fails reading the drive. And I guess that since there is no file and directory structure, it cannot be read from, hence the error, and that is why windows cannot recognize it. But, will Linux see it when I run the installation of Linux, and automatically run a partition program? I seemed to gather that this might happen, but I want to make sure. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Igor Gueths" <igueths@xxxxxxxxx> To: "linux - speakup" <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Thursday, November 28, 2002 7:57 PM Subject: Re: preparing my hard drive Ok did you remove all the partitions from the drive? Or are all fs's corrupted? In anycase, fdisk measures drive geometry in either cylinders or sectors so you can partition the disk using either measurement. I believe distruid or something to that name is used under RH as the default partitioning tool however other distros use fdisk. If you have fdisk though, might as well use it as it works a bit better. May you code in the power of the source, may the kernel, libraries, and utilities be with you, throughout all distributions until the end of the epoch.
