hard drive setup

More to the point is that you're wasting effort partitioning in DOS.
When you get around to installing Linux, you'll be able to partition as
part of that process.

And, since you've an entire hard disk to devote to Linux, don't delay.
You've nothing to lose even if you get things wrong. With an entire disk
to work with, you've got the luxury of learning by doing.
