Hi: mnt/cdrom isn't a device name, it's a mountpoint. I guess it's defined in /etc/fstab as I described in my message. As for not needing to be root to mount filesystems ... hmmm. interesting. Not how I'd run a system, but hey. It's your system. My understanding was that this was a requirement. Guess it's not, as unsafe as it might be.
