Hi, actually neither parallel or USB synths are supported by Speakup. You
need to have a serial or internal synth such as:

BNS, TNS, Dectalk Express, Doubletalk PC, Doubletalk LT, Accent, Transport,
and Echo PC.

A complete list is on the Linux-speakup.org web site. Perhaps you can find
someone to lone you a supported synth or find someone with eyes to get Linux
up and running, and then you can get Emacspeak going with software speech.

Please, turn html off in your email client. It raises havic with Linux's
text only clients like pine, and looks real messy in digest.
