Hi there, thanks for your help, I actually tried alsamixer but I couldn't make heads nor tails out of it so I ended up using amixer instead. Thanks to some pointers from Georgina via email and suggestions from the folks on the reflector last evening I've got things fixed up and I've also played a few mp3s and did a bit of stuff like that and am happy with my current settings, I did alsactl store to save them and alsasound is set to start automatically the next time I re-boot my machine, btw, I've had it up since early Saturday but I'm also wondering if there's anything I need to add anywhere such that the settings I currently have in place will be available when I re-boot or will the settings I currently have be available when I re-boot. Thanks Toby and all for your patience and assistance with my inquiries. Best to all. Ed Barnes ebarnes at enigma2.cjb.net On Mon, 15 Jul 2002, Toby Fisher wrote: > On Sun, 14 Jul 2002, Edward L.
