tripletalk?

I know someone asked this the other day but I didn't see an answer.
Is there any support under speakup for the tripletalk usb if you connect it via its serial port?
(ie does it emulate a doubletalk)?
I'm still considering what to buy for external speech and the tripletalk is looking rather good, since I can connect it to my non-serial port enabled laptop for use under jaws/windows,
and use the serial interface for linux if its supported.
If not, what's the going recommended external speech device for speakup?
Is there any device (someone mentioned a transbook?) which still allows speech from a computer and portable reading of text files?
The RoadRunner seems to have been discontinued as of december 2001 and I don't believe it acted as a synthesizer anyway.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Regards
Aaron
