Hi,
Section 508 only applies to government procurement/development. And only
for procurements after june 25, 2001 that are not purchased with an "impact
card". An impact card is a credit card with a $2500 max purchase limit. IT
will apply to those purchases as of Jan, 2003. This is to give time to the
various departments to develop training and give it to people with impact
cards.

It should be noted however that even for covered procurements the EEO
offices (of the Marine Corps/Navy at least) have no clue as how to proceed.
Been there, done that, it's a real pain. Remember, as the laws are written
you as a disabled person are supposed to be psychic and capable of
predicting the future. Not to mention the complaint acceptance language
must _clearly_ specify the section 508 violation as a seperate line item.
Insure that it does not include either 504 or 501 in that line item for any
cause. For example do not accept :
The command violated section 508 in it's procurement of ........ and failed
to properly accomodate the employee. Just a few words of wisedom. BTW, if
you are recieving government services those should comply with 508 as well
(as a taxpayer). But once again, the MC/Navy haven't worked out how to
handle complaints (and the same is probably true for most other
departments).
Regards,
Cecil
