If you are running Debian apt-get install hwtools or check for a hwtools package for Redhat or slackware if you run those. Ok so basic didn't help try ./configure --with-debug=full for alsa that will give more information. Scanport will tell us if the ports are showing up in the address space under Linux. Guess I'll have to try my luck with the kernel drivers. Having a poorly behaving card is better then not having one at all. Besides, I do not plan to do any heavy audio work on this box, I have the pentium -III machine with the sblive card for that kind of stuff.
