ssh2 authentication

It's been a while since I've used ssh, but if I remember correctly, don't
you also a .ssh2 directory in the home directory of the user you want to
become?  Perhaps that's  not right, I'm sure someone will corredct me if
it's not, but I am interested in this as in a day or two I will be trying
to get this working myself.
