Hi. I received this from another list, and thought some of you may be interested, since I know there are some broadcasters on this list. Apologies for the lateness, I've only just read it. Cheers. -- Toby Fisher Email: toby at g0ucu.freeserve.co.uk Tel.: +44(0)1480 417272 Mobile: +44(0)7974 363239 ICQ: #61744808 Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Hi all.. I would first of all liek to encourage you all to visit your favourite streams websites or the save the internet radio web site at: http://saveinternetradio.org/ I retrieved the below report from: http://www.thetestpattern.com/index.php "On February 20, 2002, the Copyright Arbitration and Royalty Panel, after many months of negotiations, recommended broadcast royalty rates for webcasters wishing to broadcast music over the Internet. The rate of .14 cents per recording per listener is twice the amount for websites that rebroadcast AM and FM stations, and could effectively shut down Internet radio as we know it. Simple Math. Suppose you have an Internet radio station with a small listener base. This is the case for most Internet stations, including TPR. For an average of only ten listeners, a station would have to pay $1,839.60 for the right to broadcast that material for one year. This far exceeds the amount of revenue that could realisticly be generated from the station, since there aren't many advertisers that will pay for air-time on a station that averages ten listeners. So in effect, the Internet radio giants like Yahoo! and Spinner will be the only ones left standing. Internet radio lets you hear a much wider variety of music than can be found on AM and FM. Independent and fringe artists that you don't hear much on commercial radio have gained exposure by being played on Internet radio. To suggest that each radio listener to a webcast is worth $184 a year is outrageous at best. Here's what you can do: Write your Representatives. Tell them your thoughts on the proposed royalty rates. Be polite, but strong in your opinions. " Today a number in fact all of the streams I've searched through are carrying the may day show. A talk show where webcasters and listeners from around the world are phoning in and voicing their opinions on this haynis act of madness! I thought I'd check to see if ACBRADIO>ORG http://www.acbradio.org Where carrying it. Main Stream? Nope Cafe? Nope Treasure Trove? Nope And best of all the section of ACBRADIO>ORG that plays musical content... ACBRADIO INTERACTIVE? Nope! So obviously as blind people it dosen't or shoudl not bother us... ACBRADIO claims to be the voice of the blind, I'm blind and I dont 'support their not airing this may day brodcast Comments? Opinions? As of the date adn time of this email none of the ACB Radio sections I've mentioned above are carrying the may day save internet radio stream. It deeply upsets me to think the station that claims to be, "The Voice Of The Blind", dont' seem to mind what happens to net streaming.. Will ACB Interactive be immune? I can't answer that. Dj Paddy "Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find a smarter hat than me You can keep you bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I am the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all.
