Even with the cvs version of speakfreely, I get an error if I run "make install" due to the stripping issue. of course, I can copy the executables into the appropriate directory. My concern is that somebody on the list gave a comment as to what the "file" command should show, I believe having to do with elf binaries. When I run "file' on my sfvoc, I get "perl script text executable'. Is this ok or tis there a problem? I have been able to use the sfsetup script and get on the reflector, but each time I did have errors; the last time I got a message about sfmike aborting and an error to do with soundbyte.c. I don't know if this had to do with my mike settings at the time (my mike wasn't working then) or if there is some other problem I need to address.
