pppd error messages

Yes, I use Slackware 8.0, but do not have any of those problems.
I use the alsa drivers version 0.9.0beta7 with the sblive card. I
use "arecord" for recording rather than "rec" and ctrl-c works
pretty quickly. In fact the last couple seconds of audio are lost
when finishing a recording. That is, if I am preparing a voice
file, I need to add a couple seconds of silence before hitting
ctrl-c just to be sure my last word got on there.

I think you are using alsa 0.9.0beta9 with an sb16 card if I am
not mistaken. Maybe someone else is also using that combo. I
would not know where to begin to unravel the mystery you have got
going there.
