off topic: PCMCIA SUPPORT IN 2.4 KERNELS

Am I correct in thinking that if the "hot plugging" support is enabled in
2.4 kernels and the appropriate drivers for the PCMCIA device are compiled
into the kernel, then there is no need to install the PCMCIA package?
