I have scantv on my debian system version 3.6.2 and I do not have any
problems with it. Here's what the package requires.
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.3-7), libglib1.2 (>= 1.2.0), libjpeg62,
libpng2(>=1.0.12), libquicktime4linux0 (>= 1.3-3)
