Hi Mo:

If the config.gz file didn't have a refference to speakup, it's anybody's 
guess what the actual selections were.  The kernel is what it is and the 
config.gz on the disk won't affect it.  Also, note that the disk (as 
supplied with Slackware) doesn't have ppp support properly compiled in.
