error compiling speakup 1.0 into Linux 2.2.16

Hi,

The best solution, IMPO, would be to download the ISO images of Red
Hat Linux 7.2 (Enigma) from
ftp://linux-speakup.org/pub/speakup/disks/redhat/7.2. If you're
determined to use RH7.0, there are a few solutions. You can stick with
2.2.16-22 by using a replacement drivers/char/Makefile and
drivers/char/main.c that Kirk hacked up for the purpose. A much better
solution would be to download all the updates for 7.0 including the kernel
from RedHat or a mirror and install them. Then, you can proceed with the
installation of Speakup using the provided 2.2.19 source. If you need any
help with any of the above mentioned solutions, call or write.

          73.
