Sometimes with external synthesizers you have to specify the serial port to use like this: speakup_ser=0 so something like this should work. I can't remember off hand the litetalk code so if I have it wrong please excuse. Since you already have slack installed just edit /etc/lilo.conf and add this line. append="speakup_ser=0 speakup_synth=ltlk" Again I might have the incorrect code for the litetalk but you can find that easily enough. -- Raul A.
